Unlock Smarter Savings with Bank of India Credit Cards

Bank of India began on September 7,1906, in Mumbai, started by a group of visionary Indian businessmen led by Sir Sassoon J. David. It was created during the great Swadeshi movement, and its core concept was to provide credit facilities for local commerce and industrialization. It aimed to serve the nation's people rather than the colonial rulers. BOI was nationalized in 1969 and gradually expanded its banking business. For decades, however, the bank kept credit cards on the back burner.

Between March 2025 and March 2026, BOI’s credit card base jumped 66.6%, from 73,016 to 1,21,655 cards. By July 2026, management said it had revamped the credit card offering and set a three-lakh-card target for FY27-end. That growth now comes with a much broader choice for customers. BOI now offers zero-AMC credit, FD-backed access, and even health-focused women’s credit cards. So, it's not the number of cards BOI offers; it's whether they deserve a seat in your wallet.

BOI Built Different Card Paths, Not Just Higher Price Tags

Bank of India is moving away from generic divisions in its credit card business. It even claims the credit limit may be as high as 20% of gross annual income and goes up to 40% with merit. Refer to the table below to select the appropriate Bank of India credit card for you.

BOI Credit Cards Work Beyond the Swipe

The useful Bank of India credit card benefits aren't always mentioned alongside the reward rate. Some come from how the bank prices, services, and rewards your relationship.

  • Your Salary Account Can Erase Annual and Monthly Costs: If you are a government employee, you are eligible for the BOI Elite Salary Account. You can receive mapped Bank of India credit cards customized to your profile, with the bank waiving annual and monthly costs. For example, if your gross monthly salary is below β‚Ή 70,000, then your account is mapped to the Bank of India RuPay Bharat Credit Card. Further, higher salary bands get the Bank of India RuPay Select Credit Card.

  • Star Rewards Pays for More Than Card Spending: Bank of India lets you use eligible Star Points for fixed deposits, recurring deposits, PPF activities, bill payments, and other digital banking activities. You can thus earn rewards with your banking activity before every swipe begins to count.

  • Reserve Pay handles Bills that Change Later: Bank of India can block one amount from the limit and enable multiple debits for different merchants from that amount. Use cases include hotels, fuel, cabs, and e-commerce wallets.

  • Your BOI Account Settles the Card Automatically: The branch billing facility provided by the Bank of India can help you recover your card dues from your specified remuneration account on the appointed recovery date. Make sure you have enough balance; otherwise, your credit card won't be authorized. You will lose the interest-free period.

  • Collateral Changes the Interest Calculation: The Bank of India SwaDhan RuPay Platinum Credit Card charges 1.20% per month on the revolving balance. BOI's unsecured cards charge 2% per month on the revolving balance. This means it's better to pay your balance in full, because borrowing costs stay lower.

Bank of India Credit Card Eligibility Gives You Choice

You can choose a card that fits your profile. For example, Bank of India zero-fee cards, like the Platinum tier, require a credit score of 650+ and no income proof. On the other hand, lifestyle credit cards like the BOI Select Credit Card and BOI Rupay Star Lakshmi Credit Card require a minimum monthly income of β‚Ή35,000 to β‚Ή50,000.

Premium cards like the Bank of India Celestia Credit Card require β‚Ή15 lakh+ in annual income. Further, government employees on an Elite Salary Account get automatic fee waivers. You will get an instant rejection if you have active defaults, bankruptcy, or credit scores below 650. Different credit cards also have different age restrictions for applying.

Star Rewards That Compound Across Your Banking Behaviors

Most Bank of India credit card reward programs reward one thing: your card spending. With Bank of India Star Rewards, you can get quite a bit more than that. You earn reward points from fixed deposits, recurring deposits, PPF investments, internet banking transfers, and bill payments.

Whether you swipe or not, your Star Points never expire. They keep building upon themselves and show great real value when you're not about to get paid off. Here's where those points actually convert to cash.

So, start by listing the aspects of your finances you want your credit card to change. You can prioritize lowering fees, secured credit, lifestyle value, or premium travel. Next, decide whether the card's annual fees, rewards, and BOI relationship match your spending habits. The credit card with the most features and benefits isn't always the best Bank of India credit card. It's the one that will leave your wallet with a solid reason to hold onto it!
